President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended heartfelt congratulations to Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman on winning the prestigious 2024 CAF Men’s African Footballer of the Year award.
The President also celebrated Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie for her recognition as CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year, as well as the Super Falcons for being named the Women’s National Team of the Year.
The awards were announced on Monday night at the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech, Morocco, marking a night of pride for Nigeria.
President Tinubu, in a statement, described the athletes as “worthy ambassadors” who have showcased their talent and brought honour to Nigeria on both continental and global stages.
He expressed his belief that the recognition by Africa’s highest football authority will inspire other young athletes to remain committed to their aspirations, adding that these accomplishments align with his administration’s vision of building a thriving Nigeria.
“These athletes embody the essential Nigerian Spirit. They signpost the best in us as a nation. Let no one ever write us off. I am incredibly proud of them,” the President said.
President Tinubu praised the determination, discipline, and confidence demonstrated by the winners, thanking them for keeping the Nigerian flag flying and expressing hope for even greater achievements in the future.
