The President of Island All-Stars Sports Club (IASC), Ikenna Okechukwu Maduagwu on Saturday thanked his colleagues for ensuring a successful completion of this year’s Achievers Cup.
He went on to describe the recreational and leisure competition as unique, improved, unprecedented and indescribable, especially as a surprise winner emerged after the last match on Saturday.
Maduagwu stated gleefully, “This year’s competition was clearly out of the world … unprecedented and indescribable.
“The new champions lost their first game 3-0 but, at the end of the day, they won the cup. That is life.”
The IASC president ended by highlighting philosophical and psychological lessons that should be learnt from the change of fortune that saw Team T.Gold eventually emerge champions on Saturday.
“It doesn’t matter where you are coming from. What matters is where you are going.
“T.Gold lost their first match three goals to nothing but, today, they are overall champions of the tournament.
“This year has been tough economically. It’s a year full of inflation but, today, in Island All Stars Club, we have witnessed an improved league that is unprecedented.
“We decided to cap it with a very beautiful and never seen before end of the year party.
“We included in the party our induction ceremony and presentation of awards at Victoria Island … Adeola Odeku, to be precise,” Maduagwu disclosed.
