Arsenal attacker, Alex Iwobi says he has nothing against Mesut Ozil getting back into The Gunners’s starting line up, as he believes he and the German star always enact a cordial partnership on the field of play.
While many pundits believe Iwobi and Ozil cannot play alongside each other at the same point in time, sports247.ng reports that the Super Eagles star thinks otherwise, as he revealed that they both have a very keen understanding of each other’s style.
Iwobi stressed that he was happy to see Ozil regain the confidence of Arsenal boss, Unai Emery ahead of Thursday’s Europa League battle with Stade Rennes, as he says he loves seeing the best of the former Real Madrid star and always knows how to link up with him during play.
Heading into Thursday’s game in France, Ozil had made just 16 starts and three substitute appearances for The Gunners in all competitions this season, but Iwobi said he hopes his pal can stay in Emery’s starting 11.
Ozil spent a period out of the team due to injury, illness and falling out of favour with Emery, but the German made an impact against BATE Borisov, and Iwobi said he enjoys having the 30-year-old on the pitch.
Iwobi said: “We know what Mesut is like because we see him in training every day. He’s world class.
“We scored three goals as a result of him playing. I know if I make a run he has the vision to find me. Hopefully he can keep on playing.”
