This assurance was given by one of their star players, Prince Obinna Alozie, who was voted man of the match after his side’s last game of the competition on Saturday.

Although Team Candl lost the game 1-0 to Kendoritz and failed to repeat their shock victory over high flying Team Prossy the previous weekend, Alozie was again outstanding on the day.

He declared afterwards in a chat with sports247.ng: “We had a good match, but, unfortunately, we lost by a goal to zero.

“However, on spirit level, we won the game, because we showed that we have good players as well.

“All the same, the god of soccer said the other team would win the game.”

Alozie then spoke about his reaction to his team’s fourth place end to the recreational multi-sports competition sponsored by Providus Bank.

“We thank God for the day and that we finished fourth. The entire tournament was fantastic.

“There were some good teams and we were the average team.

“We picked up along the way but, at the end, we did not finish strong; though we still came out with a good position.

“It’s also good that the tournament was recognised and, we hope, in the next year coming, we’ll be the ones to win the cup,” Alozie enthused.
