This year’s assembly promises to be pivotal in shaping the future of women’s football in the country. Stakeholders, including board members and representatives from both Premiership and Championship clubs, will gather to reflect on the 2023/2024 season and strategize for the future.

The 2023/2024 season was filled with remarkable milestones, including Edo Queens’ historic triumph as champions of the NWFL Premiership.

In the Championship, Honey Badgers and Ibom Angels fought their way to promotion, earning spots in the elite Premiership division. These achievements underline the growing competitiveness of women’s football in Nigeria.

During the meeting, participants will review the successes and challenges of the past season while deliberating on strategies to enhance the league’s credibility and operations.

One of the key items on the agenda will be setting the calendar and kickoff date for the 2024/2025 NWFL Premiership and Championship campaigns.

“This assembly represents a critical opportunity for us to unite and drive women’s football forward,” said Modupe Shabi, NWFL Chief Operating Officer. “The progress we’ve seen so far is just the beginning, and this AGA will help us build on that momentum.”

The gathering comes at a time when women’s football is gaining increased attention in Nigeria and beyond. By fostering collaboration and charting a clear path forward, the NWFL aims to ensure the league’s continued growth and success, further cementing its place as a beacon for women’s sports in Africa.

The AGA is expected to lay the foundation for an even brighter future for Nigerian women’s football.
