Ademola Lookman Looks Back After Man Of The Performance Against Real Madrid In UEFA Champions League

Ademola Lookman believed Atalanta deserved more in 3-2 loss to Real Madrid In Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League match played in Gewiss Sports247 reports.

Despite beating the likes Vincius Jr, Kyllian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham to the prestigious individual award of the most valuable player of the grudge, the Nigerian forward believes Atalanta have moments that could sway the game in their favour .

Looking back at the match during the post match conference, Lookman told Tribal Football , “Of course, there were moments when we could have done better, but I believe that today we stood up to Real, and this is important for our growth.”

However, the 26 year old picked some positives in the match despite losing 3-2 to the defending champions.

“Tough game, they took their chances when they had them. We knew what type of game it would be, we were unlucky, but we have our heads held high.”

” We are disappointed with the result because we felt we could have done more, but there is also pride. We showed that we can compete against a team full of champions”, Ademola Lookman said.

Atalanta succumbed to the superior firepower of Real Madrid as they scored three goals through their dynamic attacking trio of Kyllian Mbappe, Viniciuis Jr and Jude Bellingham and Atalanta could only manage two.

Charles De Ketelaere converted from the spot kick while Ademola Lookman scored the second goal to give Atalanta a ray of hope, coming back into the game after Real Madrid led by 3-1 halfway into the game.

While Lookman’s all round contribution was noted by UEFA , Atalanta lost some ground in their bid to finish among the top 8, Round of 16 automatic qualification spots.

Atalanta failed to add to their eleven points gathered while dropping out to the top 8 with two matches to go in the series.

The result lifted Real Madrid to 16 on the log, a moral booster for the defending who only their third victory out of six matches played in the new group stage format of the UEFA Champions League.

On a personal note, Ademola Lookman further added to his fantastic run in 2024, scoring in his last three consecutive games for Atlanta is pushing his season tally to three goals in the UEFA Champions League and 11 in all competitions.
