According to Fatodu, the Lagos Liga is more than a recreational 7-a-side football competition; it is a platform designed to foster talent discovery and strengthen community engagement.

Featuring 16 clubs from across Lagos, the tournament is set to kick off on Friday at the Campos Mini Stadium, Lagos Island.

“We are excited to launch this historic initiative. The Lagos Liga represents a unique opportunity for non-professional footballers to experience the thrill and professionalism of organized sports,” Fatodu stated.

He lauded the league’s potential to energize the local sports ecosystem while providing an avenue for strategic partnerships that will create greater opportunities within the sector.

Fatodu highlighted the administration’s focus on inclusivity, noting that the Lagos State Sports Commission is committed to promoting a wide range of recreational activities. “Sports is a tool for social inclusion, economic growth, and global recognition, and Lagos State is at the forefront of leveraging this potential,” he said.

He also commended League Commissioner Sandra Omoniyi for her vision and praised the sponsors for their dedication to the success of the initiative. “Their support is proof of the private sector’s confidence in the potential of Lagos State’s sporting industry,” Fatodu remarked.

With the Lagos Liga 2024, Fatodu believes the state is sending a clear signal about its readiness to invest in grassroots sports, fostering future talents and creating a lasting impact on its residents.
