Team T- Gold’s Ikechukwu Madukwe is confident his team will win the 2014 Achievers Cup after Team T-Gold Leapfrog Team Prossy to the top spot, Sports247 reports.
Team T-Gold defeated Team Kendoriz 2-0 in the first of the match day 5 of the 2024 Island All Sports Stars Achievers Cup played at the Lagos Business School football on Saturday.
The result took to the top of the log with 12 points as Team Prossy reliquenched the top position after losing 1-0 to Team CANDL in the second match of the day to finish the day on 10 points.
A situation which set up a ‘ ‘must-win’ match for Team Prossy in their final day match against Team T- Gold, a team they defeated 3-0 earlier in the competition.
In a chat with Sports247, Ikechukwu Madukwe, one of the prominent players for Team T-Gold believe the Team are on momentum which cannot be stopped for now, hence they will get the needed results to be crowned the champions of the competition when they filed against in their return leg match against Team Prossy next Saturday.
“We are happy that we won this match,” said Maduekwe after Team T-Gold defeated Team Kendoriz on Saturday.
The ecstatic Madukwe said losing their opening match and the zeal to comeback is what brought them this far.
“We lost the first match , it’s better we made the mistake earlier on, but the zeal to get back is what brought us to this point, we will not relent now, we will continue this way and go on to win the cup,” Madukwe told Sports247.
Team T-Gold rebounded from an opening day 3-0 humiliation against Team Prossy but went on to win their next four matches and needed just a draw in their final day game against Team Prossy, to win the 2024 Island All Stars Sports Club/Providus Bank Achievers Cup.
