Another chain of messy details has emerged in the unfolding saga about the abandoned Agege Stadium in Lagos State, sports247.ng has gathered on good authority.
This is sequel to feelers that a lot of untrue stories have been flying around for over three years about which company is saddled with the task of putting the popular arena back into proper shape.

Dramatically, sports247.ng learnt further, the alleged ‘chain of lies’ has gone as far as into the ears of Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who is said to be tagging along unknowingly in the dark.
Extensive checks by sports247.ng indicated further that Sanwo-Olu has apparently been made to believe that an expert in pitch infrastructure is in charge of renovation work at the once busrting arena located close to Agege market and railway station.
On the contrary, workers who have been off and on, trying to put the home of Ikeja Division Football Association (ADFA) back into proper shape, are reportedly led by a ‘former driver’ of a leading firm that is renowned in laying sports turfs.
In an effort to get to the root of this saga, sports247.ng put these feelers together in fiery questions thrown at Mr Ebi Egbe, the chief executive of Monimichelle Sports Facility Construction Limited.
While spilling more beans on contentious issues surrounding the abandoned stadium, Mr Egbe threatened to sue anyone linking his name with the hiatus.
He declared at length: “I am not the contractor. They should tell the press the truth. Why do they keep using my name?
“I am going to sue some people for defamation; because I am not the contractor handling Agege Stadium.
“They lied to Sanwo-Olu that I was the one paid to do that turf. Yes, Sanwo-Olu asked me to go to Agege Stadium while I was working on Onikan Stadium.
“I then did all the terraces of Agege Stadium, not even with an award letter. But, someone wanted to be greedy; so I stopped the work.
“He went and brought my driver to go and do that work. So, you have to ask them: Who is the contractor handling Agege Stsdium? Is it Monimichelle or who?
“Ask the ministry. My company’s name is Monimichelle. But, you can ask the stadium manager who is the contractor doing that job.
“Ask him what company is handling Agege Stadium. The person working with them on that stadium used to be my driver. That’s why they are not getting it right.”
However, the ongoing investigation by sports247.ng revealed further that there is more to the story than is being bandied officially.
While Ebi Egbe is ready to spill the beans much further, it was also gathered in separate checks that some top shots in Lagos State sports circles are playing games with infrastructure in The Centre of Excellence.
A similar scenario is said to be playing out at Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, which is also yet to regain half of its erstwhile beauty; while fingers of culpability are pointing at the same ‘contractor’ handling renovation of the now abandoned Agege Stadium.
