Asisat Oshoala name has been missing from the team’s matches m since after the 2024 Paris Olympics games as Justin Magudu takes over from former coach Randy Waldrum.
In the same trend, the coach excluded the prolific striker’s name from the list of players’ called up for the high profile friendly against the Les Blues of France this Saturday.
Thus giving room for speculations in some quarters that Asisat Oshoala was not the coach’s plan due to her dwindling impact and performance in the national colours.
In a swift reaction, Justin Magudu quashed such insinuations and clarified, ” Asisat Oshoala is still an integral member of the Super Falcons, an important player in the team”.
Justin Magudu then went further to explain that her exclusion is not connected to performance but due to some documentation issues.
” She’s not invited because of a documentation problem, not because she is not good enough to still play for the team.” Magudu told Complete Sports.
The coach speaks further :” She has some documentation problems in the US that’s why we didn’t invite her for this game,”
Asisat Oshoala last played for the Super Falcons at the Paris 2024 Olympics scoring her 61st cap, scoring 37 goals.
Nigeria will face France at the Stade Raymond Kopa, presenting on Saturday by 6pm.
