Fatodu Hails Swimmers’ Performance At Falomo Open Water Championship

The Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Lekan Fatodu, has praised the outstanding performances of swimmers at the 2024 Lagos Open Water Championship.

He encouraged the athletes in the blue-ribbon sport to continue breaking boundaries while recognizing their achievements, particularly at the 8th edition of the national developmental Games held in Asaba, Delta State.

Speaking further, Fatodu highlighted the Sports Commission’s commitment to promoting mass participation in sports and physical activities, not just in football but across various disciplines.

The LSSC boss emphasized that the State is not limited to excelling in one sport, as young talents in other disciplines are achieving remarkable milestones. He reaffirmed the Commission’s dedication to providing opportunities for talent discovery and development by ensuring access to facilities and experienced technical personnel.

Fatodu also commended Timilehin, who participated in 8-kilometres for her resilience and progress in her swimming career, noting her representation of Lagos State at the National Youth Games. He gave special recognition to her mother for her unwavering support and motivation, which has been instrumental in the young athlete’s development.

Lastly, the Director General expressed his appreciation to Saidi Olanrewaju, a member of the Lagos State Sports Commission Governing Board, for successfully organizing the event in collaboration with the Commission.
