Raheem Moyinoluwa Salaudeen, a rising star in Nigerian youth football, is encouraging his peers to find harmony between football and academics.
The young athlete, who currently plays as an attacking midfielder for Buruj Football Academy, shared his journey in a recent interview with Sports247, emphasizing that educational excellence should not be sacrificed for athletic ambition.
At just 14, Raheem is in his final year of secondary school, preparing for the WAEC exams, a crucial milestone for Nigerian students. Despite the rigors of football training, he has maintained an impressive academic record, achieving distinctions in his secondary school results.
“It’s about time management and commitment,” Raheem said. “I want to show young athletes that we can pursue our football dreams without neglecting our studies.”
Raheem’s skills have not gone unnoticed. He is among the final 40 elite players selected for the prestigious NFF/FIFA Talent Development Scheme, a platform aimed at identifying the country’s future stars. His success at Buruj Football Academy and consistent performance in the Nigeria National League have positioned him as a top contender for future inclusion in Nigeria’s national teams, including the U-17 and U-20 squads.
“Football is my passion, but education gives me a future beyond the pitch,” he added, sharing his hope of becoming a professional footballer while pursuing higher education. His story is inspiring young Nigerians to see education not as a distraction but as a companion to their sports ambitions.
Raheem Salaudeen has high aspirations: to one day wear the jersey of the National team and play in major international leagues. His story stands as a testament to the power of dedication, proving that with hard work, young athletes can reach both academic and sporting heights.
