Upon arrival, the committee, which included Mr. Awoyemi Benedict (president), Dr. Buruj (BOT), Mr. Adewole Olaniyi (popularly known as Ola Mother), and Comrade Ogunnowo Olawunmi (secretary), was greeted by Mrs. Salau Fatimo, the school’s principal. Mr. Olaniyi introduced OBESERE as an illustrious former student, sparking a heartfelt conversation about the school’s current status and challenges.

Mrs. Salau expressed her excitement at the reunion with OBESERE’s team, sharing memories of past alumni contributions and highlighting pressing issues. She explained that both the school hall and the mosque were in need of repairs.

“We face ongoing challenges with these structures,” she said. “Renovating the mosque would provide a peaceful place for our Muslim students and staff to worship.” Her plea resonated deeply with the committee, who discussed ways to potentially mobilize resources to assist.

To strengthen the school’s alumni support, Mrs. Salau introduced the committee to the president of the Jubril Martins Old Students Association. Together, they explored ideas on how alumni could play a more active role in supporting the school and uplifting the students.

Before departing, the committee took commemorative photos with the principal, staff, and students, marking the day with memories and gratitude.

As the 60th birthday celebrations for OBESERE approach, the committee’s visit serves as a reminder of the enduring bonds between the beloved musician and his alma mater. This visit is only a prelude to the grand plans in store for the birthday of PK1st, a true icon of his community.

Reflecting on the day, Secretary SFC noted, “This visit strengthened the connection to the past while igniting hopes for a brighter future for the school and its students.”
