Mexxy whose real name is Emeka Nwankwo was the cynosure of all eyes T-Gold defeated Team Kendoriz by 2-0 in the Matchday two encounter which took place at the Lagos Business School last Saturday.
His captivating performance and daring runs ensured his team bounced back after opening day loss to Team PROSSY and was duly rewarded with the Man of the Match (MOTM) award.
But Mexxy said beyond winning the awards he wants to get better to help his team, T-Gold, to get ahead of Team PROSSY who are leading on the standing after two rounds of matches.
He spoke with Sports247 after the sweet comeback victory against Team Kendoriz and shared his thoughts on what to expect from him and his team ahead of this weekend round of matches and subsequent one at the 2024 Island All Stars Sports Club/Providus Bank Achievers Cup
“We went back after the loss. It was actually a painful loss, We went home, did our homework well and we identified our lapses and improved on them,” Mexxy shared the secret behind the 2-0 win over Team Kendoriz.
When he was quizzed about the threat posed by the top topper, Team PROSSY to Team T-Gold’s ambition of winning the IASC/Providus Bank Achievers Cup.
“I must admit that team Prossy are a very good side. After the 3-0 loss to them, today again they came back with another 3-0 win. So, they are a force to reckon with. But we’ll also go back and see how we can take advantage of them in our next game.”.
“This award is actually unprecedented. I didn’t see it coming. It will only make me work harder, and I hope in the next game, I will be the man of the match” Mexxy submitted.
Team T-Gold are second on the log with three points and have a chance to win more points in their third game against Team CANDL in the second match of the matchday 3 this Saturday by 10:30 am at the Lagos Business School Pitch, Lekki/Ajah.
