Elkanemi Warriors needed a stoppage time goal courtesy of Risilanu Ismail to force a 1-1 draw against Kwara United on Wednesday in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, Rescheduled week 2 encounter, Sports247 reports.
The result prevented Elkanemi Warriors unbeaten run to the season as the team has remained unbeaten in the eight games played so far this season.
The match was earlier scheduled to take place in the second of the new season but it was postponed due to the Maiduguri flood, saw a goalless first half despite relentless effort by the two teams to break the deadlock.
The second half continued in the same fashion but it was Kwara United who broke the deadlock courtesy of
Emmanuel Ogbole who converted from the penalty spot to give the Afonja Warriors the lead in the 67th minute .
However the home side found their back into the match on stoppage time through Risilanu Ismaili after sustained pressure.
The result made it sixth draws for Elkanemi Warriors this season as they moved to the fifth position on the table, with 12 points while Kwara United had 10 points and moved into 11th position.
The 2025/2025 NPFL season continues this weekend with Matchday nine matches across ten centres in the country.
