Waheed Salaudeen, the Chairman of Buruj Football Club, has joined many Nigerians in celebrating the appointment of Mallam Shehu Dikko as Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC).
In an interview with sports247, Salaudeen expressed his deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the appointment, describing it as a “round peg in a round hole.”
Salaudeen highlighted that Dikko’s vast experience in Nigerian football administration, having served as Chairman of the Nigeria Premier Football League and second Vice President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), makes him the ideal person to lead the country’s sports sector into a new era.
He noted that Dikko’s contributions will be crucial in shaping the future of Nigerian sports, especially as the NSC replaces the Federal Ministry of Sports Development.
In his words, Salaudeen remarked, “We must give kudos to President Tinubu for listening and making this strategic decision. With this appointment, Nigerian sports is the winner. I believe Mallam Shehu Dikko’s leadership will bring a much-needed revival to the sector, and we are ready to support him.”
He also called on all stakeholders in the Nigerian sports community to rally behind Dikko, urging them to embrace the new era with enthusiasm and dedication. Salaudeen emphasized that for sports to thrive, everyone must play their part, and he expressed optimism about Dikko’s ability to deliver lasting progress.
