Eagles, Seychelles Qualifier Now Holds March 22 In Asaba

Confederation of African Football (CAF) have confirmed that Nigeria’s dead rubber final fixture in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier will hold on the 22nd of this month.

This in contrast with previous reports that the game against Seychelles will hold on March 23 at Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, where the Super Eagles will also play a friendly with AFCON 2019 hosts, Egypt on the 26th of same month.

Sports247.ng gathered that the shift in date by 24 hours is at the behest of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), which desired a longer period of rest for the Eagles’ players for the match with Egypt, after playing Seychelles.

It is now left to be seen how Eagles’ coach, Gernot Rohr will react, as observers are wont to believe the Franco-German gaffer could line out two sets of players for both matches at same venue.
This, though, is in contrast with initial declarations by Rohr, who said he will invite only the best crop of players.

However, with Egypt confirming early this week that the will be in the Delta State capital with a team that could best be described as their B-squad, Rohr might be set to make a rethink of his plans as well.
Rohr stated: “We will base our invite on what they are doing with their clubs and we know what they did with us and we are not forgetting it.”
