Flamingos forward Farida AbdulWahab reflected on her debut performance at the U-17 Women’s World Cup, sharing her joy after scoring a stunning goal in Nigeria’s match against New Zealand.
In her post-match comments, she expressed her happiness, saying, “I felt so happy when I scored the goal because I tried my best. I have never played in the World Cup before, so when I scored the goal, I was very happy.”
AbdulWahab credited her success to the rigorous training and preparation under the guidance of her coach, adding, “I have been practising goal scoring. That is what our coach has been teaching us. So I have been trying my best to make sure I make my coach and Nigeria happy.”
Looking ahead, the confident forward assured fans of her readiness for future challenges, stating, “I am fully prepared because I trust myself and my teammates that we will make Nigeria proud.”
AbdulWahab’s optimism reflects the determination within the Nigerian squad as they continue their campaign at the U-17 Women’s World Cup.
The Flamingos will meet with Ecuador for their second match on Saturday, 19th October at the Cibao Stadium in Santiago by 9 pm Nigerian Time.
