2024/2025 NPFL: Five Things To Know On Matchday 7

The NIgeria Premier Football League 2024/2025 saw Matchday 7 midweek as all 20 teams took the pitch to battle for points.

We bring you another summary of what transpired on Match day 7 with the following five things to know.

*Fantastic Musa*

Ahmed Musa was the name on every lips on Wednesday after Kano Pillars romped to an believeable first half 4-0 rout of Rangers.

Ahmed scored one of the goals and provided the remains three assists.

Other players also shine in front of goals helping their the lot of their team as Ossy Martins, Rabiu Ali, Wasiu Alalade, Sunday Anthony and Isaac Saviour all recorded braces on Matchday 7.

Ossy Martins had a brace for Lobi Stars but it wasn’t enough to win the three points for his team as Elkanemi stormed back to grab a point in Lafia after they went down 2-0 at a time in the game.

Rabiu Ali too had a brace both from the penalty spot, aside that his combination with Ahmed Musa was a delight and truly trouble Enugu Rangers on Wednesday.

Wasiu Alalade of Kwara United scored two first half goals to out Kwara United in the drivers seat as they defeated Sunshine Stars 3-0 in Ilorin.

Sunday Anthony was the destroyer in chief as Plateau United dimmed Remo Stars 3-1 in Jos while Isaac Saviour’s two goals against Kano Pillars is not enough to save the defending champion against Kano Pillars.

*Two Players Saw Red, Rivers Utd Go Top*

It was a weekend where two players got red carded by the centre referees as Toheeb Ajeigbe of Ikorodu picked two yellow cards in Ikorodu City FC 1-1 draw with Heartland away from home.

Alex Aghahowa Otakho of Shooting Stars got straight red carded against Rivers United late in the game , and Rivers capitalised on the advantage to double their advantage, as Shooting Stars lost 2-0 at the Adokie Amasiemaka Stadium to regain top position on the log as Remo Stars failed to sparkle losing emphatically away from home.

*All Stars Failed To Shine*

Sunshine Stars, Shooting Stars , Remo Stars and Lobi Stars FC, all failed to win their game , thus making a dull week for the stars as there was no shining moment for any of the teams with stars in their name in the NPFL this week.

Sunshine Stars lost 3-0 to Kwara United, Remo Stars lost 3-1 to Plateau United, Shooting Stars lost 2- 0 Rivers United and Lobi Stars were forced to 2-2, throwing a two goal against El-Kanemi Warriors FC.

*Best of the rest*

It was a week of goal rain as a total of 31 goals were scored on Matchday 7, averaging 3.1 per game, which produced 6 home wins, 3 draws and one away victory with Kano Pillars and Rivers United produced the highest number of goals , 7, on the Matchday.

Ex Super Eagles players Daniel Amokachi and Emmanuel are still struggling to re adapt to the system as both managers are not getting the needed results as expected, as Lobi Stars and Heartland FC are currently battling relegation early in the season, though the race is a marathon, they need to start getting the necessary results otherwise, their teams might go down at the end of the season.
