The Management, Board, and Staff of the Lagos State Sports Commission have extended their heartfelt congratulations to Wahid Enitan Oshodi following his unanimous election as the President of the African Table Tennis Federation (ATTF).

This significant achievement occurred on October 15, 2024, at the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Oshodi’s journey in sports administration began in 2000 when he was appointed to the Lagos State Sports Council Governing Board by then-Governor Bola Tinubu.

He quickly rose to prominence, becoming the Chairman of the Lagos State Table Tennis Association (LSTTA). His impact continued under the administration of Governor Babatunde Fashola, where, in 2011, he was appointed Commissioner for Youth, Sports, and Social Development.

One of his notable achievements during this time was overseeing the highly successful National Sports Festival, “Eko 2012.”

Oshodi’s passion for the sport led him to the presidency of the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF), where he revitalized the sport, nurturing global stars like Quadri Aruna and Olajide Omotayo.

His exceptional leadership did not go unnoticed on the international stage. The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) appointed him as the Chairman of its Nomination Committee, and in 2019, he was elected Deputy President of ATTF.

In 2021, he further solidified his international reputation by becoming the ITTF Executive Vice President, triumphing over candidates from China and Europe.

Oshodi’s election as the 6th President of ATTF marks a milestone for Nigerian sports, as he is now the only Nigerian presiding over a continental sports body.

The Lagos State Sports Commission lauded Oshodi’s “ingenuity in sports administration,” which has elevated Nigeria as a key player in the global table tennis community.

“His remarkable journey is an inspiration to all, and we are confident that his leadership will take African table tennis to greater heights,” the statement from the commission concluded.
