Nigeria U17 Women National Team, Flamingos head coach, Bankole Olowookere, has promised that Nigeria won’t return home empty handed as the 2024 FIFA U17 Women World Cup begins this Wednesday, Sports247 reports.

Coach Olowookere expresses his confidence in the ability of the Flamingoes to stay till the end of the competition as they are prepared to return to Nigeria with something with the ultimate target of returning with the elusive trophy .
In an interaction with the Nigeria Football Federation X handle on Monday, the coach assured Nigerians that the team will make Nigerians, happy and will be proud of their performance till the end of the competition
“On behalf of the team and the backroom staff, I am assuring Nigerians that we will make them happy; they will be proud of us till the end because we are going to be here till the end”
“Our slogan is that we refuse to go back home empty-handed. We must get something back home, whatever it costs. Just believe in us; we are going to make you happy, and we are going to bring something back home”
“We are planning and working hard to get the gold for Nigeria. I am so excited today and confident in the Lord. We have worked hard, and we believe in God, and we are going to come home with the trophy by the grace of God.” Olowookere assures
Nigeria, who has participated in every edition of the competition are in group A alongside the host Dominican Republic, New Zealand, and Ecuador.
Nigeria will kick start their campaign on the opening day, Wednesday 16 2024 against New Zealand on Wednesday, at the Estadio Cibao FC, Santiago de los Caballeros.
Nigeria finished in the Semi final of the competition in the last edition in India, the highest attempt by the county to win the competition.
The 2024 edition of the FIFA U17 Women World Cup will run for three weeks beginning from October 16 to November 3, 2024.
