The Lagos State Government has terminated the employment of six officials from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) in accordance with directives from the Lagos State Civil Service Commission (CSC).
This action follows recommendations made by the Personnel Management Board regarding serious misconduct and inefficiencies exhibited by the officials.
Formal disciplinary notices were issued at LASTMA’s Headquarters in Oshodi, Lagos. Mr. Adebayo Taofiq, Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment, stated that these decisions align with the Lagos State Civil Service Rules and Regulations.

General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, confirmed the endorsement of the Personnel Management Board’s recommendations and reiterated the agency’s commitment to improving its operations.
Bakare-Oki called on Lagos residents to engage with LASTMA by providing positive feedback or reporting any misconduct they observe, along with relevant evidence.
He emphasized, “This is an ongoing exercise aimed at purging the Agency of errant officers,” indicating that further sessions of the Personnel Management Board will be held to address additional cases of misconduct among LASTMA officials.
He also reminded road users about the necessity of complying with traffic regulations, warning that violations would attract penalties enforced by the Lagos Mobile Courts.
He stressed that adherence to traffic laws is vital for achieving the “Greater Lagos” vision as outlined in Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES Plus Development Agenda, with the first pillar focusing on traffic management and transportation.
Additionally, Bakare-Oki reassured the public of LASTMA’s commitment to addressing complaints promptly and impartially.
