Ahead of the Super Eagles’ back-to-back clashes with Libya in their AFCON qualifiers, William Troost-Ekong has expressed his respect for the opposition while highlighting the challenges of African football. Speaking to reporters, he said:
“Every game is a tough game, playing in Africa is never easy, and I know they’re in town now, so they are taking preparations seriously.
I don’t know too much about them individually as players, but we’re going to do a video meeting about them.”
Reflecting on the last encounter between Nigeria and Libya in 2018, Troost-Ekong added that while both teams have changed significantly since then, the Super Eagles must be fully prepared for a difficult game.
“Any team that wants to play against Nigeria will want to play a good game. We have to make sure we are ready.”
This sets the stage for a crucial qualification battle as the Super Eagles seek to secure their place in the upcoming AFCON.
