“The All-Nigeria Amazon Scrabble Championship was Fun, Mind-Blowing, Intriguing,” – Blessing Ola

Blessing Ola, an Amazon with class on and off the board, shared her experience at the recently concluded All Nigeria Amazon Scrabble Championship.

“My experience at the ASSC was fun, mind-blowing, intriguing, and an eye-opening experience. I did great, but I could do better; there’s more room for learning and improvement,” she stated.

Blessing highlighted that the championship was not just about winning but also about building friendships.

“The event created a platform for me and other female wordsmiths, especially the young ones, to showcase our talent and get exposure. It also enabled me to network and socially connect with new, old, and refreshing people from different walks of life,” she explained.

A member of the Ola Scrabble dynasty and a lover of chocolate, Blessing also appreciated the event’s culinary offerings.

“The food and desserts were so appetizing, tasteful, and succulent. I am a foodie, and I love to cook. Plus, the sportsmanship displayed was beyond what I imagined; it felt like we were one big family, almost everyone was like a sister’s keeper,” she emphasized.

She extended her gratitude to the organizers, Words and Wits, for recognizing the girl child and creating a springboard for female scrabble players.

“This event has given female scrabble players a voice and recognition. It has challenged us to work harder and created more awareness for potential female scrabble players in Nigeria and beyond.

This is the maiden edition of ASSC in Nigeria; it’s a big deal and something to be proud of.

I want to thank Mr. Bright Idahosa, the Vice President of the Nigerian Scrabble Federation, the president Chief Engineer Olobatoke Aka, the National Coach Prince Ikolo, the technical crew, media men, all sponsors, and all those who contributed in any way, and of course, all Amazons, #beautywithbrains,” she concluded.
