Gideon Magaji, cannot hide his joy after helping Team Delta State to defeat Team Lagos in the Handball boys final on Thursday, (19 September 2024) in the just concluded Asaba 2024 National Youth Games.
Gideon who was outstanding in the fiercely contested final between Delta State and Lagos State was over the moon and cannot hide his joy and happiness after winning the gold medal by defeating rival Lagos.
He spoke to our correspondent In Pidgin English and captured the moment in the best language he can express himself best
In his words, ” E make me feel better , joy, Joy , Joy and I just dey happy”.
” I wear my medal sleep, I can’t remove it and anywhere I go I carry an for my neck, ” said elated Gideon Magaji.
He spoke further on his experience at the games and how Team Delta navigated their way to the final to win the gold.
” Niger State was our toughest opponent. We defeated Niger State in the semi final and it was a very tough game, before defeating Lagos in the final. We are really happy to Lagos, they are our rival and we are determined to beat them.” Gideon said.
On what is next for him in the game, the teenage Handball player whose ultimate ambition in the game is to represent Nigeria Handball national team said he is going to train harder so that he can defend won in the 2024 Asaba in the 2025 edition.
“I want to go back and train harder to ensure we win the gold medal next year, God keeping us alive”, Gideon concludes.
