The shy lass declared afterwards in a chat with a Sports247 correspondent that she never thought it would be possible for her to win the gold medal, but pointed out that she took her selection for the Games very seriously from the outset.

Oyindamola disclosed, “I feel happy. I took this opportunity seriously from the moment I was told that I would be coming for this competition.

“I did not think that I was going to win a medal, but I thank God for making it possible. It was God that did it.

“Now I am happy, my coach is happy, and my state is happy. My parents will also be happy, and I am proud of myself.”

Oyindamola joked that she did not find any of her opponents too difficult to handle in the Delta State capital and then projected into the future with a prediction that she would one day represent Nigeria at a major tournament.

“I am happy that I won this medal and that I made my parents proud. I believe God will continue helping me so that I will fight for Nigeria in future,” she supplicated.
