“I’m grateful firstly and I’m happy we won the game. This second game was really tough, but thank God we won,” said Obot, reflecting on the challenging match that tested their skills and determination.

As an all-rounder, Obot emphasized her commitment to excelling in all aspects of the game. “I try my best to bowl well, bat well, and keep well to make my team proud and also help my team win because I am the captain,” she stated, highlighting her dedication to leading by example and contributing to the team’s success in every possible way.

Motivation and team spirit play a crucial role in their performance. Obot revealed a unique ritual they follow to boost morale. “We have a song we sing to encourage each other. For example, if someone moves the wicket well, we clap for them and tell them they can do better,” she explained, showcasing the supportive and positive environment within the team.

Obot also discussed the broader impact of participating in the Youth Games. “I’ve made new friends and connections, which are important because you never know where you will be or where you will go tomorrow,” she noted, appreciating the opportunity to network and build relationships with fellow athletes.

Looking ahead, Obot has clear aspirations for the future. “My role model is Salome Sunday of the female Yellow Greens and my able coach. I’m planning and wishing to get better than her,” she expressed, setting her sights on achieving greater heights in cricket.

As the games continue, Obot’s leadership and determination will undoubtedly be very important for the Akwa Ibom cricket team, inspiring them to aim for excellence and take home the medal just like Obot envisions.
