Team Lagos has defeated Delta State 2-0 in Women’s football on Saturday at the 2024 National Youth Games in Asaba Delta State Sports247 reports.
The match which was regarded as final before final saw the two favourites found themselves in the group after the draws, where only the winner of the group can aspire to win the gold medal in the event.
In the first group match played today between the two sides, but it was the Lagos team that triumphed at full time .
An elated coach of the Lagos maidens, Coach Olowu Olayinka, popularly known as Coach Omoh attributed the sweet victory to the girl’s ability to play to instructions and appreciate the players for sticking to her game plans.
” I want to appreciate the girls. They follow instructions and they give their all and play their hearts out” Coach Omoh told Sports247.ng as the match.
The coach who finds time to appreciate the Lagos State Football Association board led by Gafar L’ameed for their support in preparing the team during the competition itself and promised to deliver the gold in the event.
” I want to appreciate the chairman of the FA , Hammed Gafar, Dotun Coker and other back room staff of the Lagos State Football Association for their support from the preparation to the competition, to this moment”
” I just want to assure them that we are coming home with gold, for us to defeat Delta State, we are coming with the gold but the gold , Lagosians should expect the gold” an excited Coach Omoh said.
Lagos State will play Benue State next and a victory in the game will see them top their group and straight into the final to face the winner of the other group.
