Nigeria’s Asisat Oshoala continues to shine for Bay FC, netting her third game-winning goal of the season in a 1-0 victory over Racing Louisville FC at PayPal Park.
The decisive goal, scored in the 75th minute, sealed Bay FC’s second consecutive win and bolstered their playoff hopes in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).
Oshoala’s fourth goal of the season, the most by any player on the team, came from an assist by debutant Penelope Hocking.
The Nigerian striker has now delivered three 1-0 victories for Bay FC this season, further establishing herself as a key player.
“Her ability to score in crucial moments has been a major factor in our recent success,” said Bay FC head coach Albert Roca. “Oshoala’s impact on the team has been immense.”
With this win, Bay FC (8-11-0, 24 points) climbed to seventh place in the NWSL standings, their highest position since Week 4.
They are now just three points behind Portland Thorns FC and four points off the fifth-placed North Carolina Courage, putting them in striking distance of a playoff spot.
Oshoala’s partnership with Hocking proved promising, as Hocking recorded an assist on her club debut.
The win also marked Bay FC’s second set of back-to-back victories this season and their fourth clean sheet, with goalkeeper Katelyn Rowland securing her third shutout.
As Bay FC push toward the playoffs in their inaugural season, Oshoala’s form will be crucial.
The team has shown a knack for late-game heroics, scoring seven goals after the 70th minute, including in their last two matches. With five games left, Bay FC will look to maintain their momentum and secure a playoff berth.
