Ebube Duru Joins Danish Club Sønderjyske Fodbold on Three-Year Deal

Nigerian defender Ebube Duru has officially signed a three-year contract with Danish Superliga club Sønderjyske Fodbold, extending his stay until the summer of 2027.

Duru, who had been on trial with the club for an extended period, impressed the coaching staff enough to secure a permanent move.

The 25-year-old left-back has been without a club since departing Rivers United over a year ago.

His time training with Sønderjyske allowed the club to assess his abilities, and the decision to sign him was made based on his physical attributes and potential for growth.

“We have been watching Ebube Duru for a long time, and we have been satisfied with what we have seen,” Sønderjyske’s sporting director, Casper Daather, stated on the club’s official website.

“He brings some raw physique, power, and ambition, which looks very exciting, but we are also aware that there will probably be a longer approach with him because it is the first time he will be playing football in Europe.”

Daather added that Duru has promising raw talent, which the club is eager to develop within their setup.

Now that the contract and paperwork are finalized, Sønderjyske is looking forward to integrating Duru into the team fully.

Duru is expected to make his debut for Sønderjyske in a Danish Cup tie against Solrød FC later tonight, marking the beginning of his European football journey.
