Stellenbosch FC has made a strategic addition to their squad by signing Enyinnaya Godswill from Rivers United, a top player in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
Godswill, known for his versatility and strong performances on both the defensive and offensive fronts, has been a key figure for Rivers United. During his time with the club, he helped secure the 2021/2022 NPFL title, contributing a goal and three assists.
Although his continental campaign with Rivers United didn’t yield any silverware, Godswill’s influence on the pitch was undeniable, playing 36 games in African competitions.
The 1.67-meter defender now sets his sights on the South African Premier Division, where he will join Stellenbosch FC, pending the approval of his work permit. His move follows the departure of Stellenbosch’s former right-back, Deano Van Rooyen, to Orlando Pirates.
Godswill will compete with Kyle Jurgens for the starting right-back position, aiming to establish himself as a regular starter.
Stellenbosch’s decision to bring in Godswill is seen as a move to bolster their squad after Van Rooyen’s exit, with the club keen on leveraging the Nigerian’s experience and skillset.
