NPFL: ‘ Worst In Enugu’ Ilechukwu Laments As Flying Antelopes Fail To Fly In Season Opener

Coach of Rangers International FC, Fidelis Ilechukwu has described the performance of his team in the NPFL 2024/2025 season opener as the worst in Enugu after Elkanemi Warriors snatched valuable point on Saturday , August 31 2024, Sports 247 reports.

The match which was played in the main bowl of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu on Saturday, August 31, 2024 saw Enugu Rangers play out a barren draw against Elkanemi Warriors with many of the home fans who thronged out in their thousands left the stadium disappointed as the Flying Antelopes failed to pick maximum three points.

In his post match press reaction , Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu expressed his disappointment over the outcome , describing the performance of his as the worst under him in Enugu and praised the bravery of Elkanemi Warriors in the encounter.

“Today is one of our worst games we have played in this stadium and I am very sad about it because we had our game plan. But, you know, sometimes, football is very funny and things don’t go the way you plan and El-Kanemi is a very good side and they gave us a great match.” Coach Ilechukwu said after the encounter.

However, the coach said they must forge ahead and forget about the poor performance in a hurry.

” We have to put behind us this result quickly and plan with a positive mind set for our coming matches. It was a disappointing performance from us, no doubt, but we must forge ahead,” Ilechukwu submits.

Rangers next game will be on the continent against Angola’s league runner-up, Sagrada Esperanca in the first leg, second preliminary round of TotalEnergies CAF Champions League 2024/2025 on 13-15 of September, 2024 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.

Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu must quickly sort out the goals scoring issues of the team lately as Rangers International have only scored one goal in open play in the three official matches played so far this season.
