In a significant move, Charity Reuben, former Nigerian U20 Women’s international, has signed with Al Ahly Women Football Club, marking a new chapter in her career.
This move comes as part of Al Ahly’s efforts to establish a competitive women’s team following the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) mandate requiring clubs participating in inter-club competitions to have a women’s team.
Al Ahly, known for its illustrious history in men’s football, recently launched its women’s soccer team to compete in the Egyptian Women’s Premier League for the 2024-2025 season.
The team, led by head coach Dimitri Lipoff, a seasoned French coach with experience in Chinese women’s football, aims to make a strong impact in its debut season.
Charity Reuben’s addition brings international experience and a promising attacking option to Al Ahly as they gear up for their inaugural season.
The club has also signed several other talented players, both local and international, indicating their serious commitment to building a strong and competitive team.
This development is part of a broader trend in African football where leading clubs are investing in women’s teams, further elevating the sport across the continent.
