Super Eagles forwards Chidera Ejuke and Kelechi Iheanacho made their LaLiga debut on Friday at the Sanchez Ramon Pizjuan Stadium where Sevilla lost 2-1 as the 2024/2025 LaLiga continues with week 2 matches.
The duo started on the bench but later got their chances to impress as Chidera Ejuke saw 17 minutes of action and Kelechi Iheanacho played the last 13 minutes of the match.
Ejuke replaced Juanlu Sanchez in the 71st minutes while Kelechi Iheanacho came on for Isaac Romero in the 77th minute as the Sevilla’s coach energised the team attack in search for a winner as the match was even 1-1 at the time.
The Former AFC Bournemouth striker Arnaut Danjuma had given Villarreal an early lead in the second minute of the game as he struck home, finishing off neat work started by Álex Baena.
Dodi Lukébakio equalised cod Sevilla on the stroke of halftime , volleying the ball over the goal line insider the penalty area.
The game dragged on as both teams searched for the winner , but it was Villarreal who got the breakthrough in this 85th minute as
Ayoze Perez volley beat Sevilla’s goalkeeper Orjan Nyland to found the back of the net.
Chidera Ejuke contributed his part in the few minutes of action he saw as he brought lots of life and flair to the right side of attack as Villarreal right back Sergi Cardona have a lot to do trying to cut him out of the game.
Though he couldn’t get any assists but he forced a late minute save from the Villarreal Goalkeeper Diego Conde .
Kelechi Iheanacho on his side, managed one shot in the game which went wide, playing a center forward in a 4-3-3 formation.
The result condemned Sevilla to their first loss of the campaign and left with a point having played 1-1 away to Las Palmas last weekend .
The rest of the 2014/2025 LaLiga week 2 matches continues this weekend while Sevilla next game is due for next Tuesday against Real Sociedad.
