Prior to the tournament’s start, the Optima Energy Gold Cup announced a three-year partnership with SofaScore, making the app its official technical partner.

This collaboration involves SofaScore, developed by Croatian tech company SofaIT, providing in-depth match data and analytics to millions of global users who follow the competition. The partnership began with this 12th edition of Nigeria’s premier off-season football tournament.

Ajibolade, who has been closely monitoring the tournament, expressed his appreciation for the move. “I think the positive of the 12th edition is the fact that games were now live on the SofaScore app,” he said. “Even though I have not been around since the tournament started, I was able to follow the games in detail.”

He highlighted the convenience and accessibility the app provides, stating, “Even before the tourney started, the schedule was already up on the app, which was really refreshing to see. It’s a positive development that enhances the experience for everyone involved.”

Despite the technological advancements, Ajibolade emphasized that the essence of the tournament remains intact. “The football is still the same, the quality is there, so we appreciate the fact that quality teams still grace the tournament. Hopefully, in subsequent seasons, we keep having proper teams and a good tournament.”

Under Ajibolade’s leadership, Beyond Limits has made history by becoming the second team to reach back-to-back finals in the Optima Energy Gold Cup. They are set to face Shooting Stars in the final on Saturday at the Remo Stars International Stadium, with the match scheduled to kick off at 3 PM.

The SofaScore partnership underscores the organizers’ commitment to using technology to enhance the tournament, setting a new standard for football competitions in Nigeria.
