Scheduled for September 28 to 29 at the Peninsula Hotel, the tournament has become a major event in the national scrabble calendar, attracting top players and newcomers from across the country.

The Lekki Scrabble Club, known for its significant contributions to the global development of scrabble, is once again at the forefront of elevating the game’s profile. The club’s president, Samuel Anikoh, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “The Lekki Scrabble Classics is the flagship tournament of the Lekki Scrabble Club, arguably the most prestigious scrabble club in Nigeria, if not the world.

You’ll be hard pressed to find a more impressive tournament organized by a scrabble club. The event has evolved over the last few years, and this year boasts a One million Naira star prize in the Division A category.”

The tournament is certified by both the Nigeria Scrabble Federation (NSF) and the Pan African Scrabble Association (PANASA), further cementing its status as a top-tier event. Players will compete over 18 rounds in two main categories: Category A for those with ratings of 1300 and above, and Category B for those with ratings below 1300. In addition to the grand prize, spot prizes, gifts, and consolation rewards will be given to deserving participants.
