Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, has recently signed a new deal with Italian Serie A club Udinese.
The 24-year-old joined The Little Zebras last summer from Watford in a deal worth around €2m, and slowly worked his way into being the first-choice goalkeeper, keeping five clean sheets in 21 league games, helping the team avoid relegation from the back.
His decent run of form towards the end of last season saw him receive a call-up to the Super Eagles 2026 squad for their FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Benin Republic and South Africa under Finidi George back in June.
However, he didn’t feature for Nigeria, with Stanley Nwabali retaining his place as the team’s first-choice goalkeeper.
Amidst interest from two Italian clubs, the German-born Nigerian penned a new contract with Udinese, extending his stay until 2028.
“Still together, more than before. Udinese Calcio and Maduka Okoye have renewed the contract that will see the Nigerian goalkeeper tied to the black and white club until June 30, 2028.
Maduka has earned himself a leading role over the past season, demonstrating a high standard of performance that has made him one of the best-performing goalkeepers in the championship.
His renewal demonstrates his and the Club’s desire to continue the journey together with renewed enthusiasm and ambition.”
Maduka Okoye’s new deal with Udinese represents a significant milestone in his career.
It not only opens new doors for personal and professional growth but also signals Udinese’s commitment to building a formidable team for the challenges ahead in Serie A.
