Bendel Insurance’s star goalkeeper, Amas Obasogie, has officially signed a two-year contract with Ethiopian club Fasil Ketema FC.
The move marks a significant step in Obasogie’s career as he becomes the second Nigerian player to represent the Ethiopian side, following in the footsteps of former Sunshine Stars forward Okiki Afolabi.
Obasogie had an outstanding season in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), where his stellar performances earned him the prestigious Golden Glove award.
He kept an impressive 18 clean sheets throughout the campaign, a feat that caught the attention of several top clubs, including Enyimba and Rivers United, who were keen to secure his services.
However, the shot-stopper chose to pursue an opportunity abroad, opting for a move to Fasil Ketema.
The 27-year-old goalkeeper’s remarkable form also earned him a call-up to the Super Eagles, Nigeria’s national team, showcasing his growing reputation in African football.
Despite Bendel Insurance’s inconsistent performance last season, Obasogie stood out as one of the league’s top talents, further solidifying his status as one of the best goalkeepers in the NPFL.
Obasogie’s move to Fasil Ketema is seen as a significant boost for the Ethiopian club, which has been strengthening its squad ahead of the new season.
Fans of Fasil Ketema will undoubtedly be excited to see what the Nigerian goalkeeper can bring to the team as they aim for success in domestic and continental competitions.
