Akwa Ibom FA Assures Fans of Safe And Exciting Matches As Enugu Rangers Clash With Zilimadjou FC

The Akwa Ibom State Football Association has pledged a secure and enjoyable experience for fans and supporters of Enugu Rangers of Nigeria and Zilimadjou FC of Comoros during their upcoming CAF Champions League preliminary round matches. The games, scheduled for Sunday, August 18, and Friday, August 23, 2024, will take place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

Mr. Samuel Umoh, the chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Football Association, made this assurance today in Uyo while welcoming delegations from both clubs. He emphasized that the Association, in collaboration with security agencies, is committed to ensuring a safe environment for all spectators.

This aligns with his administration’s vision of revitalizing fan engagement at the stadium, which has become a notable destination for football in Nigeria.

“Akwa Ibom State Football Association is very happy to host the matches between Nigerian champions, Enugu Rangers, and Zilimadjou FC this Sunday and next Friday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, which is now the national capital of football. We are ready as usual to give our visitors the best reception and support in line with the spirit of sportsmanship,” Mr. Umoh stated.

He further encouraged fans from across Nigeria and visitors to take advantage of the stadium’s facilities, which have drawn both continental and global attention, to support the teams. The 30,000-capacity stadium is expected to be filled with enthusiastic supporters cheering their teams on.

Mr. Umoh also revealed that extensive preparations have been made by the Akwa Ibom State Football Association, the State Government, stakeholders, the Enugu State Football Association, and the management of Enugu Rangers International to ensure that Nigerian clubs excel in both the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup.

“We will continue to encourage all Nigerians and visitors alike to take advantage of the facility that has attracted both continental and global football into the state,” he added.
