CAF Champions League: US Zilimadjou Opts For Uyo as Home Ground Against Rangers International

In an unprecedented move, US Zilimadjou, the football club from Comoros, has expressed its willingness to play both legs of their CAF Champions League preliminary round tie against Nigeria’s Rangers International in Uyo, Akwa Ibom.

This decision comes after the team’s home stadium in Comoros failed to secure the necessary approval from CAF, rendering them unable to host matches in their own country.

According to reports, if an agreement is finalized, the first leg is slated to take place between August 16-18, with the return leg scheduled for August 23-25, both at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

This arrangement would mark a significant advantage for Rangers International, who would enjoy home-ground support throughout the two-legged tie.

US Zilimadjou’s decision to relocate their “home” match to Nigeria highlights the challenges smaller footballing nations often face in meeting CAF’s stadium requirements.

For Rangers, this development presents an opportunity to advance to the next round, potentially with greater ease, as they look to make a deep run in this year’s CAF Champions League.
