Players’ union lauds local govt boss on players welfare

The Lagos state chapter of National Association of Nigerian Professional Footballers ( NANPF) has praised the Executive Chairman of Surulere local government, Hon. Tajudeen Ajide for his philanthropic gestures to ex- footballers in the country.

In a chat with the press, the chairman of the Lagos state chapter, Hon. Tajudeen Disu, describes the Mayor of the acclaimed sports city as ‘selfless and kind’.

” Hon. Tajudeen Ajide is a rare breed. He has continued to cater for the welfare of several former footballers, many who are facing health and financial challenges,” Disu a former Nigeria international and captain of the defunct Abiola Babes football club, stated.

According to him, the former footballer turned politician had in recent times also provided jobs for many of the retired players, as well as encouraging and sponsoring some of them to courses within and outside the country.

” It is a fact that Ajide was a former footballer. However, he has proven over time to be a politician with uncommon leadership skills and magnanimous nature,” Disu noted.
