Rotarian Clement Olufemi Adenekan Teaches RYLA 2024 Attendees How To Turn Setbacks Into Successful Comebacks

The District Governor of Rotary Club district 9112, Rotarian Clement Olufemi Adenekan has provided many useful tips on how young people can turn a setback into a recovery and achieve a successful comeback.

Sports247.ng reports that Rotarian Adenekan provided the expose while speaking at the opening ceremony of the district’s first Rotary Youth Leadership Academy (RYLA 2024) at Sea School, Apapa, Lagos.

He disclosed that all 294 attendees at the camp, which is located on an island off the quay at Liverpool area of Apapa, will be imbibed with developmental skills that should help them overcome various adversities in life.

The amiable governor, who is fondly called ‘DG’ by other club officials and members, also urged the attendees, now tagged RYLArians, to key into the camp’s theme, which is ‘using the magic of Rotary to unleash the potential in our youths.’

Adenekan began by encouraging the youngsters to start seeing themselves as leaders of tomorrow, hence his charge for them to learn well during the week-long camp experience that ends this Sunday.

“As youths, you stand at the precipice of a future that is good and educative but challenging,” Rotarian Adenekan stated.

“The exposure we will give you is immense, and the impact you can have in the world is boundless.

“However, realising your potential requires more than just talent and ambition.

“It demands vision, resilience and commitment to personal goals existing in your vision. They key is to embrace a clear vision for the future, which should inspire and motivate you.

“A clear vision has a roadmap guiding your efforts and decisions. It helps you focus your energy on what truly matters, allingning your actions to long-term goals and approximating resilience.”

The pioneer governor of the new district went on to philosophise over the values of facing challenges in life, as he enjoined all teenagers, youths and adolescents present under the camp’s huge canopy to stay positive in all circumstances.

“Challenges and setbacks are inevitable in life; but they are also opportunities for growth, once you remain resillient.
“Resilience is about maintaining your drive and enthusiasm in the face of adversity.

“It means learning from failure, adapting to every situation and continuing forward with renewed determination.

“You must keep on remembering that every setback is set up for a comeback,”
Rotarian Adenekan concluded with an emphatic yet fatherly tone.

He also used the occasion to appeal to Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by the commissioner for youth and social development, Honourable Bolaji Ogunlende, to help Rotary Club actualise all projects he promised to executive during his tenure as DG.
