Cyriel Dessers Scores Again as Rangers Secure First Win Of The Season Against Motherwell

Nigeria international and Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers continued his scoring streak, finding the net in Rangers’ 2-1 victory over Motherwell on Saturday.

This marked Philippe Clement’s first win of the season as Rangers’ manager.

Dessers, who had opened his goal account in midweek during Rangers’ UEFA Champions League qualifying round fixture against Dynamo Kiev, made an impact early in the match at Ibrox.

The 29-year-old striker scored in the 15th minute, capitalizing on an assist from Mohammed Diomande to give Rangers the lead.

However, Motherwell responded quickly, leveling the score just five minutes later when Robin Propper inadvertently directed the ball into his own net.

Rangers regained their advantage in the 24th minute through Vaclav Cerny, who was set up by James Tavernier. Cerny’s goal proved to be the decisive strike, securing the hard-earned victory for the home side.

Leon Balogun, Dessers’ compatriot and fellow Nigerian international, began the match on the bench. Balogun was brought on in the 77th minute, replacing Propper as Rangers looked to maintain their lead.

This victory provides a much-needed boost for Rangers as they continue their campaign, with Dessers showing promising form early in the season.
