Former Liverpool striker, Stan Collymore has remarked on Victor Osimhen’s potential move to Chelsea in the ongoing summer transfer window, declaring that the Nigeria international would be under pressure to deliver if the transfer were to happen due to his price tag.
Victor Osimhen is a highly-rated Nigerian striker currently playing for Napoli. His remarkable performances have attracted interest from several top clubs, including Chelsea FC.

However, the stumbling partnership to a deal is Osimhen’s release clause of 130 million euros.
Chelsea has been on the lookout for a world-class striker. Despite having talented forwards, inconsistency has plagued their attacking unit.
In a bid to avoid breaching Financial Fair Play Regulations, Chelsea has proposed signing the Nigerian on loan with an option to buy included in the deal, but the striker’s agent Roberto Calenda is against the idea of his client moving to Stamford Bridge temporarily.
Stan Collymore has pointed out that some marquee players signed by Chelsea in the past did not live up to expectations and explained why Osimhen could flop at the Blues.
“That player, whoever it was, got talked about way beyond whether they were good, bad or indifferent on the pitch,” Collymore told Caughtoffside, via The Chelsea Chronicle.
“It was always that the record signing would be expected to make the difference which I always thought was very unfair.
“The big-name signing that won’t just entertain us but will also become the poster boy of both his club and the entire Premier League.
“That could well be the case for Victor Osimhen if his rumored move to Chelsea comes off because the mind-boggling numbers then put unfair pressure and expectation on him.”
An ex-Liverpool forward recently commented, “It could well be the case” that Osimhen finds a new home at Chelsea, citing his impressive skill set that complements what the club currently needs.
Napoli manager Antonio Conte has rested Osimhen in his side’s first four games of the pre-season.
Osimhen has faced injury challenges in the past, raising concerns for longevity and reliability.
Victor Osimhen’s potential move to Chelsea holds significant implications for both the player and the club.
While he brings exceptional talent and capability, various factors will determine the success of such a transfer, including financial components, team dynamics, and his adaptation to the Premier League.
