The team has scheduled several friendly matches in Lafia and will participate in pre-season tournaments in Abuja and Ogun State.

Nasarawa United, recently promoted from the National League, will compete in the Abuja Unity Pre-season Tournament from August 11-18, 2024, followed by the Optimal Energy Gold Cup Pre-season Tournament in Ogun State.

The team will face prominent NPFL teams, including Kano Pillars and Plateau United, as well as Benin Republic’s Asvo FC, to fine-tune their performance.

During an in-house friendly, Nasarawa State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development Permanent Secretary, Chief Barr. Isaac Danladi, emphasized the government’s focus on enhancing the team’s structure and performance.

He highlighted the government’s commitment to improving welfare packages, image promotion, and player recruitment.

“The focus of the State Government is on signing new and quality players to augment the team, set up a new football structure, ensure performance gains, and general rebranding for optimal performance in the elite domestic league,” Danladi said.

Technical Adviser Usman Adams expressed confidence in the team’s progress, revealing efforts to recruit top talent from the NPFL and beyond.

“As you can see, we are a work in progress. We have some sizeable number of quality players from top clubs in the NPFL and a few other players from about three African countries,” Adams said. He praised the support from the Nasarawa State Government and stakeholders, promising to announce new player acquisitions soon.

Club Captain King Osanga echoed this optimism, appreciating the quality of new recruits and the government’s support. “We are happy with the kind of players being sampled for recruitment. These are quality players, I must confess. Indeed, this is what the team needs now to boost confidence because all we need are being made available by the Government,” Osanga stated.

Media Officer Eche Amos expressed similar sentiments, noting the meticulous planning and dedication being put into the pre-season. “The club is making significant strides in preparation for the upcoming season.

The involvement of top players and the comprehensive support from the government showcase our readiness to compete at the highest level,” Amos said.

The Solid Miners are set to face Shooting Stars Sport Club of Ibadan in their season opener on August 8, 2024, at the Lafia City Stadium.
