Team Nigeria Faces Tough Challenges At 2024 Paris Olympics: A Roundup Of Elimination

Despite high hopes and strong performances leading up to the event, several athletes have been eliminated from their respective competitions. Here’s a detailed look at the events where Nigerian athletes were unable to advance:

1. Boxing: Cynthia Ogunsemilore was provisionally suspended after testing positive for a banned substance. Olaitan Olaore was defeated 5-0 in the men’s 92kg category.

2. Table Tennis: Quadri Aruna (4-3) and Omotayo Olajide (4-1) were eliminated in the Men’s singles first round. Offiong Edem and Fatimo Bello both lost 4-0 in the Women’s singles first round.

3. Badminton: Anuoluwapo Juwon Opeyori bowed out after losing his first and second group matches in the Men’s singles category.

4. Women’s Football: The Super Falcons ended their campaign with zero points after losing all three group stage matches.

5. Swimming: Tobi Sijuade missed the semifinals in the Men’s 50m Freestyle, finishing 3rd in his heat with a time of 23.34 seconds.
