In a series of disappointing outcomes, Team Nigeria has faced numerous setbacks at the ongoing 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

Despite high hopes and strong performances leading up to the event, several athletes have been eliminated from their respective competitions. Here’s a detailed look at the events where Nigerian athletes were unable to advance:
1. Boxing: Cynthia Ogunsemilore was provisionally suspended after testing positive for a banned substance. Olaitan Olaore was defeated 5-0 in the men’s 92kg category.
2. Table Tennis: Quadri Aruna (4-3) and Omotayo Olajide (4-1) were eliminated in the Men’s singles first round. Offiong Edem and Fatimo Bello both lost 4-0 in the Women’s singles first round.
3. Badminton: Anuoluwapo Juwon Opeyori bowed out after losing his first and second group matches in the Men’s singles category.
4. Women’s Football: The Super Falcons ended their campaign with zero points after losing all three group stage matches.
5. Swimming: Tobi Sijuade missed the semifinals in the Men’s 50m Freestyle, finishing 3rd in his heat with a time of 23.34 seconds.
6. Athletics – Women’s 100m*: Favour Ofili was ruled out due to a registration error by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria. Rosemary Chukwuma did not advance after finishing 6th in her heat with a time of 11.33 seconds.
7. High Jump: Temitope Adeshina did not progress to the final after finishing 9th in Group B with a jump of 1.88m.
8. Athletics (Mixed 4X400m): The quartet of Samuel Ogazi, Ella Onojuvwevwo, Ifeanyi Ojeli, and Patience Okon-George set a new national record with a time of 3:11.99 but failed to reach the final.
9. Women’s Discus: Ashley Anumba, Chioma Onyekwere, and Obiageri Amaechi were eliminated in the first round.
