OGC Nice center-forward Terem Moffi will face a prolonged period on the sidelines after sustaining a serious ACL rupture in his left knee, according to a report from Nice-Matin on Tuesday.

The Ligue 1 club confirmed the injury in a medical statement, revealing that Moffi is expected to miss a significant portion of the upcoming Ligue 1 season.

The Nigerian international suffered the injury during a preseason training camp in Austria. Subsequent medical examinations confirmed the severity of the ACL rupture, marking a major setback for Franck Haise’s squad.

Moffi, who joined Nice from Lorient eighteen months ago, has been a crucial player for the team, contributing 20 goals and five assists in 52 appearances.

In light of Moffi’s extended absence, OGC Nice executives, including newly-appointed Sporting Director Florian Maurice, are actively exploring options to bolster their attacking options.

With Moffi out, the club is left with just two fit senior strikers: Gaëtan Laborde and Evann Guessand. However, there are reports that Guessand might be considering a move away from Nice, potentially leaving the squad further depleted.

This injury represents a significant challenge for Nice as they navigate the upcoming season without one of their key attacking players.

The club’s search for a replacement striker will be a critical aspect of their strategy moving forward.
