The Kano State government has announced plans to host the 2024 AYSOF President Peace Cup, with the semifinals and final set to take place at Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata Kano, in August.
Shehu Usman Yola, the Chairman of the Kano State African Youth Sports Federation (AYSOF), popularly known as Shehu Misille, shared that the competition’s kickoff and quarterfinal matches are being held in Katsina and Zamfara States, respectively.
The four teams advancing to the semifinals and finals include the Abba Gida-Gida boys from Kano, Al Khairat of Sokoto, Nadir Idris boys from Kebbi State, and Mohammed Bago boys from Niger State.
Misille detailed that the semifinals are scheduled for August 8 and 9, with the final set for August 11, 2024, in the historic city of Kano.
He emphasized the significance of the event, stating, “It’s going to be a special game being in a state with a rich tradition of soccer.”
Misille also called on state governors to provide more support and consideration to youths across the nation, noting that such backing could inspire young people to reach new heights.
He highlighted the importance of sports in maintaining peace, changing lives, and building stronger communities.
