Coach Ogbaini Amanosi of Next Talented Ballers FC spoke candidly after the match.
“I think they gave me their best, but though the result is disappointing, we gave our all. We just have to go back, put in more work, and more effort. I believe we’ll come back stronger,” Ogbaini Amanosi remarked.
Next Talented Ballers, a team founded and sustained by the players themselves, has been in existence for just two months.
“It’s a team put together by the players with no sponsor yet. What you just saw here is purely work in progress. We are not yet done. The team is just two months old, and it’s a privilege to be here,” Nicholas explained.
The team is based in Lekki Phase 2, where they train at VGC Holden park, despite facing numerous challenges. Nicholas highlighted the difficulties of training and bringing together players from diverse backgrounds.
“There are so many challenges training there, but we keep pushing. I’m not going to blame the players because it’s purely work in progress. It’s not easy bringing different players together, but I’m happy with the spirit they put in. It’s a disappointing result, but I think I’m happy with their gameplay and discipline,” he said.
Coach Nicholas praised the 1X Bet Cup for providing a platform for his players to showcase their talents.
“It’s a good innovation because in a country like this, where we hardly have an opportunity to come out and express ourselves, it’s difficult. Such competitions are rare, and we are happy to be here. Thank you to 1X Bet and the sponsors. They did a good job, and we’re happy,” he concluded.
Despite the setback, Next Talented Ballers have shown promise and determination, and their journey in the world of football is just beginning.
