Rivers Whales’ Efosa Austin Obosa has qualified for the quarter-finals in the Men’s Singles of the 2024 Teqball Championship World Qualifier at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba, Abia State.
In Day One of the event, Efosa Obosa defeated Joshua Musa of Imo State 2-1 before losing 0-2 to Nigeria’s number one Teqball player, Victor Ademoye Oyemade of Delta State.
Obosa made up for the setback by beating Team Rivers’ Pleasant Chima to advance to the quarter-finals of the Championship where he’ll next face Tobi Mejedi of Abia State in Day Two of the event.
Meanwhile, Team Rivers’ Pleasant Chima, Stanley Okwuwuodu, and Edidiong Emmanuel have all been eliminated from the Men’s Singles category of the Championship.
Rivers Whales are participating in all five categories of the competition; the Men’s Singles, the Women’s Singles, the Men’s Doubles, the Women’s Doubles as well as the Mixed Doubles events.
The competition will end on Saturday the 13th of July 2024 at the Aba Sports Club, Aba.
The game of Teqball is set up much like table tennis, with two separate teams/individuals on either end of the table, attempting to win points by hitting a football back and forth at their opponents.
